Telephone box

Originally situated on Wakefield Road on the grass between Kings Close and West View.

To make a call four old pennies were first inserted into a black box at the side of the telephone. After picking up the receiver, a dial on the front of the telephone was used to select the numbers required. If the call was successful a button on the black box marked "A" was pushed and the call was connected. If the call wasn't answered then button "B" on the black box was pushed and your four pennies were returned.

(Now situated behind the Library on Bell Lane.)
